Helen “Carol” Barnstable, 84, of Springfield passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at The Mosaic of Springfield.

Carol was born on December 16 1931 in Chesterfield the daughter of Laurence and Winifred Fletcher Barnstable.

She was a 1950 Carlinville High School graduate and went on to receive her Associate in Arts Degree from Blackburn College in 1953 and her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Northwestern in 1959.  She worked as a Graphic Artist for Hammond Litho, Inc. and later as a free-lance graphic artist.  She was a member of St Peter’s Episcopal Church in Chesterfield and enjoyed reading, traveling and art.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Julius, Gene and Ronald “Barney” Barnstable; and sister-in-law, Jeanie Barnstable.

She is survived by two nieces, Julie (Brian) Clevenger of Springfield and Linda (Eddie) Wilson of Carlinville; two nephews Jerry (Sheri) Barnstable of Decatur and Mark Barnstable of Carlinville; and several great nieces and nephews.

Cremation was accorded and private family services were held.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League or the USO of Illinois.
