Helen (Buzzy) Burris, 83, of Riverton, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2016 at her residence.

Buzzy was born on March 3, 1933 in Springfield the daughter of William Henry and Annie Hoard Thompson.

Buzzy worked 25 years for C. Hughes Company, Inc., in the Chicago area.  She also worked at the SoHo, Eltorroco, and the State House Inn, in Springfield, and was the owner of Buzzy's Lounge on Peoria Road.

Buzzy was one of a kind.  Her love and zest for life was beyond compare.  She loved her "doggies" and socializing with friends at her favorite watering holes.  She was always the life of the party. Buzzy lived her life to the fullest every day and truly brightened the world around her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David Burris; and two "doggies", Pebbles and Major.

She is survived by her best friend of 60 years, Jackie Finley, friend and guardian Salli Chernis and her daughter Cori Charlson, her loving caregiver, Missy Allen and Missy's entire family, her beloved poodle, Sarge, as well as Robert Senger.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Ellinger-Kunz & Park Funeral Home with Reverend Robert Dykman officiating.  Burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery.
