Janet Lynn Magee, 66, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at St. John’s Hospital.

Janet was born on March 28, 1950 in Springfield the daughter of Jim and Dorris Day Thorton.  She married Roy Magee on March 14, 1970 in Springfield.

Janet worked for National Grocery Store for 15 years and then retired from Schnucks after 17 years.  She enjoyed shopping, especially for purses.  She was a diehard Cub’s fan and also liked the bears.  But her greatest love of all was being with her grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her mother and granddaughter, Joyce Ann Magee.

She is survived by her husband, Roy; son, Roy (Jill) Magee II of Springfield; two granddaughters, Cassie (companion, Michael) Magee of Springfield and Kaylie Marie Magee of Springfield; great grandson, Michael Wanye Feagans III; father, Jim Thorton of Springfield; brothers, Gary and Bobby Thorton; sister, Bonnie (Mark) McLaughlin; half-brother, Billy Day; half-sister, Donna Day; sister-in-law, Shirley (Robert) Gullo; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cremation was accorded. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Ellinger-Kunz & Park Funeral Home.  Burial will follow Old Salem Cemetery.
