Katharina Gristy, 86, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at her daughter’s residence.

She was born on November 8, 1930 in Frauenaurach, Germany, the daughter of Johan and Babette Vogel Wagner.  She married Claude R. Gristy on June 12, 1954 in Germany; he preceded her in death December 1989.

She was a homemaker, enjoyed crocheting, cooking and watching NCIS.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Jerry Gristy and Claude Gristy Jr.; two infant grandsons; five sisters; and three brothers.

She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Bingham of Springfield, Mary (Kenny) Sergent of Divernon, and Susan Faye of Indianapolis, IN; two sons, Joe and Willie Gristy both of Springfield; sister; Frieda Wirth of Germany; three granddaughters; one grandson; three great-grandsons; six great-granddaughters and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cremation will be accorded.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Ellinger-Kunz & Park Funeral Home with Pastor Nic Cook officiating.
