Margaret E. Demaree, age 64, of Springfield, IL passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at the Mosaic of Springfield (formerly Capital Healthcare Centre).

She was born May 31, 1952, in Rushville, IL, daughter of Raymond S. and Jean Lothian Demaree. She married William Silas Peters on May 17, 1974.

She is survived by two sisters, Camilla (Dave) Bruemmer of Kirkwood, MO and Lisa (Ken) Runkle of Springfield, IL; four brothers, David (Tammy) Demaree of Quincy, IL, Eric Demaree of Las Vegas, NV, John Demaree of Austin, TX, and Bryan Demaree of Kerrville, TX; two nieces, seven nephews and two great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She was a member of the Abraham Lincoln Unitarian Universalist Church. She graduated from Rushville High School in 1970, and from Central Methodist College in Fayette, MO in 1974. She received a degree in medical technology from St. Mary’s School of Medical Technology in Quincy, IL in 1975. She earned a license as a massage therapist in 1996.

She worked as a medical technologist at hospitals in Fort Wayne, IN and Cincinnati, OH, and as a massage therapist at Canyon Ranch Resort in Lenox, MA.

Funeral services will be held at the Abraham Lincoln Unitarian Universalist Church, 745 Woodside Rd., Springfield, IL, at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 26, 2016 with Rev. Martin Woulfe officiating.
