Robert E. “Bob” Carlson, Sr., 82, of Springfield, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2017 at his home.

He was born October 10, 1934 in Melrose Park, IL the son of Carl Eric and Mae Mary McDermot Carlson. He married Lillian Mae Blake on June 30, 1962 in Bellwood, IL.

Bob was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Parish. He owned REC Services where he worked as a carpenter, with his sons, until his retirement in 2006.

He enjoyed country line dancing, visit with neighbors, and watching TV. He loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren

Bob is survived by his wife, Lillian Carlson; three children, Bob Carlson, Jr. of Chatham, Eric (Billie) Carlson of Springfield, and Anni (John) Martin of Chatham; two grandchildren, Eric Brenden Carlson and Maegan Carlson; a brother, Jimmy (Chris) Carlson of Schaumburg, IL; several nieces and nephews; seven grandkitties; and his beloved cat, Sugar.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Richard E. Carlson and infant son, Michael; and two brothers, John and Carl Carlson.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Ellinger-Kunz & Park Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. with Sister Mary Jean Traeger, OP officiating. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
