Virginia Riggins Miller, 84, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Memorial Medical Center.
Virginia was born on April 5, 1934 in Springfield the daughter of William H. and Mildred Stitt Riggins. She married John Miller on June 30, 1978; he preceded her in death in 2014.
She was past co-owner of Herrin Fertilizer and was owner of Nostalgia Antique Shop. She had also worked for Tiscus Furniture, Famous Barr and owned a restaurant in Venice, FL before retiring. She was a member of the Elks Club and DAR. She enjoyed home decorating, reading, gardening and playing bridge.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Julianne Riggins Thomas; and brother, William W. “Bill” Riggins Sr.
She is survived by two sons, William Frank Herrin of Mechanicsburg and John Herrin of Springfield; two daughters, Lisa Herrin of Maumee, OH and Julie (Stephen) Melvin of Hindsdale; grandchildren, Brett Herrin, Erica Wegman, Maggie Melvin, Jack Melvin and Milo Herrin Gill; great-grandchildren, Kaleb Herrin and Henry Wegman; sisters-in-law, Norma Riggins, Elaine (David) Burrus, JoAnn Sapp, and Imogene Leffingwell; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Ellinger-Kunz & Park Funeral Home with Reverend Larry Hanson officiating. Cremation will follow.
