LeRoy Lee Watkins

LeRoy "Lee" Watkins, 72, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023.  LeRoy was born on September 4, 1950, in Springfield, the son of Elmer and Venetta (Wake) Watkins.

He was a member of the Carpenters Local 270, and Sheet Metal Workers Local 218.  He was a member of the NHPA and the ILSHPA for over 35 years, where he held various offices.  Lee was inducted into the ILSHPA Hall of Fame in 2022. He directed many tournaments and the Springfield Horseshoe League. He was a three time NHPA World Class Champion. He also enjoyed fishing and camping.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Jan Lowery and Joyce Bennett; and two brothers, Lyle and Larry Watkins.

Lee is survived by the love of his life and soulmate, Stevie Benedict; one sister, Jacquie (Don) Kirby, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 from 5:00-7:00PM at Fullenwider-Park Funeral Home, 200 S. Church St. in Mechanicsburg. Cremation will be accorded and private graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2023. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
