Douglas “Doug” Edward Cortelyou, 37, of Springfield IL, died on January 5, 2018 in Springfield, IL

Doug was Born on September 4, 1981 in Port Arthur, Texas to Christina Marie Oller.

He was raised in Springfield, IL and Graduated from Midwest Technical Institute in 2011 with an HVAC Certification. After his graduation from the HVAC program he was asked to come back and work as an instructor to teach the trade. He most recently worked as an HVAC Technician for E.L. Pruitt Co. Doug also held several other certifications related to the HVAC industry. Doug belonged to the Plumbers, Steamfitters and Refrigeration Local Union 137.He was a man of many other skills amongst the trades including roofing, dry-walling, electrical work, framing, and floor installation, but all are just a few of his many talents.

Doug was a very handsome, thoughtful, kind and intelligent man who always put others first. His smile could light up a room. His gentleman attributes led him to meet Randi Rena Miers in 2013 while both were working as Instructors at Midwest Technical Institute. They later married in 2016.

Doug enjoyed being a part of anything thrilling. He enjoyed watching Street Outlaws, Goldrush and Football on TV. He was an avid Bear’s fan. Doug spent most of his free time fixing things. He was a handy man by trade and offered his skills anytime they were needed. Doug could build a house from the ground up if he wanted to. He also enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in his death by his Maternal Grandfather, Ronald L. Oller, Sr. on December, 29, 2017.

His is survived by his wife, Randi; daughter, Cecelia Christine Cortelyou; two step-daughters, Dezariah Miers and Franchesca “Frankie” Miers; mother, Christina Oller; father, Daniel Cortelyou; brother, Anthony Cortelyou; grandmother, Rose M. Oller, and uncle Ronald L. Oller, Jr.( Wife, Victoria); one niece, Isabella R. Cortelyou of Springfield; and several cousins.

Private family services will be held.
