Robert F. "Bob" Beals

July 15, 1929 ~ November 22, 2017 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Robert F. "Bob" Beals, 88, of Rochester, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at his home in Rochester.

He was born on July 15, 1929 in Trilla, IL the son of Albert and Carrie (Jones) Beals.  He married Frances Goeckner on April 4, 1959.

Robert received his Masters degree in Education from Eastern Illinois University. He went on to teach in Effingham for 5 years, and Rochester for 18 years. He also worked for Sears for 30 years.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, enjoyed gardening, loved all sports and was an avid Cardinals baseball and Illini basketball fan. He was a member of American Legion Post 32 and the National Education Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Mark; and one brother, Oren Currier.

Robert is survived by his wife, Frances; one daughter, Julie (Scott) Kilby of Chatham; two sons, Gary Beals of Rochester and Jeff (Kim) Beals of Springfield; three grandchildren, Seth, Bradyn and Mitch Kilby of Chatham; three nieces and one nephew.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester.  Burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery.  Inter-Veterans Burial Detail will conduct honors.

Memorial donations may be made to American Legion Post #32.
