Frederick Allen Richards

Frederick Allen Richards, 79, of Edinburg, died on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Fred was born on July 7, 1940, in Breckenridge, IL. the son of Charles and Lena (Neer) Richards. He married Charlene Marie Grieve; she preceded him in death.  He later married Emily Christine Stringer and she survives.

Fred was a member of the NRA, the 6th Illinois Civil War Reenactment, and the Taylorville Saddle Club. He was an avid golfer, loved watching western movies, especially John Wayne movies, woodworking, working with his hands and loved spending time with his family.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Norma Zini and Ellen Nave Richards; and one brother, Carl Nave.

Fred is survived by his wife, Emily Christine Stringer; sons, Michael Allen Richards and Mark Wayne (Gail) Richards; daughters, Dawn (Tom) Imburgia, Rhonda Burton and Marcie (David) Moran; ten grandchildren, seventeen great- grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Edinburg.  Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 2, 2019 at the funeral home with Reverend Gaylord Spilker officiating. Burial will follow at Edinburg Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
