Georgianna "JO" Boesdorfer Obituary

Georgianna (Jo) Boesdorfer, 93, of Springfield, formerly of Pleasant Plains, died peacefully on March 11, 2023 at Springfield Memorial Hospital surrounded by family.

Jo was born on January 31, 1930 to William and Viola (Engel) Reburn in Mt. Carmel, IL. She graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a degree in Education and began her career as an elementary school teacher with the Springfield School District. She concluded her 39 year career as a first grade teacher with the Pleasant Plains School District.

She married Roy Boesdorfer on December 18, 1954 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Farmingdale, IL. They were married for 63 years before he passed in September 2018

Jo was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pleasant Plains where she had served as Treasurer of the Mary Martha Guild, member of the Voter's Assembly, Board of Education and Altar Guild. She and Roy were die-hard Cub fans until the very end.

· She is survived by her daughters, Sue (Ken) Matzat, Pleasant Plains, Sally (Jim) Manker, Biloxi, MS and Mary Jane Heard, Murfreesboro, TN. She was proud to be called Grandma by Jenny (David) Darnell, Adam (Megan) Matzat, Rob (Katie) Manker, Andy Manker, Mary (Dave) Harris and Jonathan (Stephanie) Heard. Additionally she spoiled her great grandchildren Anna Thompson, Thomas Darnell, Mackenzie Matzat, Maisie Matzat, James Manker, Tori Manker, Tommy Manker, Jordan Pearson, Lexi Manker, Evan Harris and Melissa Heard. Her step great granddaughters were just as special to her-Jacey Ratliff and Paige Ratliff.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son - Tom Boesdorfer, parents - William and Viola Reburn, brothers - Earl Reburn, Bill Reburn, John Reburn, Charles Reburn, sisters - Frances Sharp, Mary Andrews and Jean Brewer.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 16, 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at Zion Lutheran Church, 525 North Cartwright, Pleasant Plains. Additional visitation will be held at Zion Lutheran Church beginning at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, March 17 with her funeral service to follow at 11:00

A.M. Burial will follow in Pleasant Plains Cemetery.
