Kenneth R. Metcalf Jr. 56, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Kenny was born in Springfield, on July 17, 1965, the son of Kenneth and Jean (Mann) Metcalf.
Kenny was a member of the Mechanicsburg Fire Department for 34 years, current president of the Mechanicsburg Fire District Board, 38 year member and former president of the Springfield Ski & Boat Club, member of the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, and a member of Mid-West Truckers Association. He enjoyed snowmobiling in Iron County, Wisconsin, boating, watching westerns, and spending time with his family. Kenny was in Law Enforcement for 24 years, was the former police chief of Spalding, and worked his whole life at Metcalf Farms and Transportation.
Kenny is preceded in death by his mother, Jean.
He is survived by his wife, Carla; son Nathanael Metcalf, of St. Louis, MO; daughter, Kayla (Wesley) Copelin, of Springfield; step sons, Asa Thomas (Aubrey) and Carson (Fiancé Nicole Riley) Thomas, both of Ramsey; grandsons Acen and Archer Thomas; father, Kenneth Metcalf Sr., and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 20, at Fullenwider-Park Funeral Home, 200 S. Church St. in Mechanicsburg, from 5:00-7:00PM. Funeral Services will be held on Monday at the funeral home at 11:00AM. Burial will follow at Mechanicsburg Cemetery.
